The first thing I did was was create some test resin, with different tint recipes. The power sources will remain green, as they are standard Necron power sources, presumably. The eyes will be red, and I'll try doing some OSL with an airbrush. Maybe a necron symbol off the sheet.įor the deathmarks, to emphasize their uniqueness in the army, I'm going to go with deep red access, blood red highlights, and white faceplates. The faces will remain white with some sort of ornamentation on the head. My finished color scheme will be boltgun metal, washed with devlan mud, touched up with mithril silver highlights on the immortals (a little boring but it looks good and will match my others. The bodies were primed in black, and the heads were primed in white. I'm going to start with the Immortals & Deathmarks, since those seem like easy models to get me back in the groove of things. I would have greatly preferred to order the premade electronics kit from my previous vendor, but I think they may have gone out of business, which is a shame. I'm going to try for a variation on these plans here. Please don't order any of this stuff, since I haven't settled on a final design.

I may add an electronics package to it, depending on how small the final boards come out.įrom Electronics Goldmine, I put in an order for 10 each of the following:Īlso, a sheet of copper clad scissor cut board to make the actual modules. I also will almost certainly remove the pilots, as I dislike the concept. Similar to my existing monolith, I'm going to add an electronics package to make the portal slowly pulse.įor the command\annihilation barge, I intend to magnetize the Overlord platform and Annihilation guns to make them swappable. I'm going to follow the build as a Doomsday ark for the rear and, up to the front 20%, For the front 20%, I'm going to build a translucent green portal, similar to the monolith. I never really liked the concept of a short bus for troops that can transport the concept used in the flyer with the portal on the belly I found much more reasonable. I will generally not be using the GWS plastic green rods, but will be casting my own from clear resin with tint added.įor the Ghost\Doomsday ark, I intend to go a little more radical. Not a big fan of the new ones, and I rather liked the green rods (yes, I know a lot of people hated them). One idea I have is that when possible, I will add green rods back where they normally would go. So, long story short, this might be a slow ride but it has a definite ending, and it will get there.ġ0x Lychguard, build TBD (possibly 5/5 split on weapons)ġ0x Triarch Praetorians with Rods of Covenant

That was an immense sense of pride to me. It is, to date, the only army that I have done that I feel I have completed (Orks are getting close though). I had not a single Necron model left that I wanted that I didn't have. For me, Necrons are serious business, and up until this release, I had not worked on my Necron army in 6 months because it was done. The Dawn of War video games are what got me into 40k, and I have always considered myself to be a Necron player. That being said, for me, Necrons are different. I haven't abandoned them, I just got bored with them. If you followed my CSM blog, you know I shelved that as incomplete. Consequentially, this wll be a slow moving, slowly updated workblog. However, because I don't like it, I'm slow. I can, and do, paint my armies completely, and pride myself on never fielding a model that isn't painted, by myself, to the best possible standard I can do at the time I paint them. I love modelling, but I'm substantially less enamoured of painting. This thread is to document my path to adding the 2011 Necrons ("Newcrons") to my pre-existing Necron Army.īefore we get any further, I think it's best to tell you how I roll, so you can decide if you're interested in following this or not.
